(KSL News) Last week Jeremy Hauck's defense attorney filed a motion asking a judge for a criminal investigator and a mental-health expert to evaluate Hauck's mental state.

This week the judge approved the request.

Hauck is charged with first degree murder for killing his mother and stuffing her body in a freezer.

According to the Deseret Morning News, the state is being asked to pay the 75-hundred dollar cost because Hauck has been declared indigent.

Also, a judge has approved the sale of Laura Hauck's condo and car. Earlier this year, Hauck relinquished his right to inherit the estate.
