Ray Bertoldi believes architectural design is an expression of the person or organization for whom it's done. As such, his company, Bertoldi Architects, specializes in listening to its clients in order to incorporate their personality into the design.
Bertoldi Architects provides personalized designs for a wide variety of building projects including custom residential, health care facilities, educational and religious buildings and corporate and civic facilities. The company focuses heavily on client service and, as a result, Ray says about 80 percent of its work comes from referrals and repeat clients.
In addition to architectural design work, Bertoldi Architects also has in-house interior design services that can take design detailing to the next level. The interior designer considers how someone might live in a particular space and suggests how to make the space most comfortable.
Ray has been working in an architectural office since he was 19. He graduated from Weber State with a degree in logistics management and immediately entered the University of Utah School of Architecture, where he earned his master's degree in 1991. He received his license in 1993 and opened Ogden-based Bertoldi Architects in 1994.
Two years ago Ray purchased a building located on Harrison Boulevard and completely renovated it to turn it into his office. Coincidentally, the home originally belonged to Eber Piers, a well-known Ogden architect who designed some of downtown Ogden's most prominent buildings. Ray is happy to see the building return to its roots.
One of the biggest changes to Bertoldi Architects over the years is the diversification in the type of projects it completes. Ray says this has helped it to weather the economic storm better than most. He takes pride in his staff's ability to work with contractors and to offer only the highest degree of personalized service.
