OGDEN, Utah (AP) -- Keena Young scored a game-high 27 points, including two late free throws in regulation, as Brigham Young defeated Weber State 73-69 in overtime Saturday night.
With the score tied in overtime, Young gave the Cougars (4-2) a 70-67 lead on a three-point play with 1:50 left in the game. Following a short jumper by WSU's Arturas Valeika which pulled the Wildcats (4-4) to within one, Rashaun Broadus was awarded a layup after WSU was called for goaltending and the Cougars again lead by three.
Young, who scored his team's final seven points in regulation, hit two free throws with 41 seconds remaining to give the Cougars a 64-62 lead. WSU's Juan Pablo Silveira tied the game with two free throws with 19.3 seconds left which set up a dramatic ending as Broadus' missed a 3-point shot at the buzzer to end regulation.
Tyler Billings came off the bench to lead WSU with 18 points while Valeika scored 15 and Silveira had 12.
Lee Cummard scored 12 and Broadus added 10 for BYU.
A 3-pointer by WSU's Dan Henry pulled the Wildcats to within 25-24 with 3:52 left in the first half before the Cougars went on a quick 5-0 run to extend their lead. Trent Plaisted scored three points during the stretch. Henry added a layup before the end of the half as the Cougars led 30-27 at the break.
Weber State took a 52-47 lead on back-to-back 3-pointers by Billings and Dezmon Harris in the second half. But the Cougars answered with an 8-0 run fueled by 3-pointers from Jimmy Balderson and Broadus.
BYU outrebounded WSU 38-28 with 15 coming on offense.
