SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The Humane Society of Utah has taken in 30 of 77 poodles that were found last week in squalid conditions in a Duchesne County home.
The poodles were found living in a Tabiona home that had about a foot of feces in some areas after their owner died and his family called police to remove the dogs.
The Utah Animal Adoption Center took in 16 poodles earlier this week and all have been placed in homes.
The Humane Society estimates it has gotten as many as 40 calls a day inquiring about the poodles it is housing. The organization says people have offered to both adopt and foster the dogs.
The Humane Society plans to evaluate the dogs and get them ready for adoption by next week.
