SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A woman charged in the death of a pedestrian who was hit and killed at the Salt Lake City International Airport last year has pleaded no contest to reduced charges.

Evelini Kinikini, 28, pleaded no contest on Tuesday to class B misdemeanor charges of negligently causing injury or death and having no proof of insurance.

Kinikini had been charged in 3rd District Court with negligent homicide, a class A misdemeanor.

Patricia Jordan, 65, of Maryland, was hit by a car last July at the airport and died of brain trauma two days later. Court documents said Kinikini said the sun was in her eyes when she hit Jordan, who was in a crosswalk.

Kinikini was sentenced to a year of probation and was fined $900.
