SALT LAKE CITY -- People renting properties that are being foreclosed on have legal rights to stay in the home.

The Utah Housing Coalition and Community Action Partnership of Utah says tenants are innocent victims of the foreclosure crisis. In Utah, a recent report found 40 percent of people forced out by foreclosure are actually renters.

A new law passed in late May, though, says landlords facing foreclosure have to give tenants 90-day notice before they have to move.

The coalition hopes lawmakers will bolster the measure next year.
