WEST JORDAN -- A married couple charged in a multi-million dollar mortgage fraud scheme won a delay in court today.
Brendan Tyler and Olivia Cassity face 15 counts of communications fraud, money laundering and racketeering.
They're accused of using fraudulent appraisals and high-risk loans to skim off millions of dollars in equity from distressed properties.
Their roll-call appearance in court was postponed a month to give the defense time to review 10,000 pages of documents.
The Cassitys are accused of preparing their own highly-inflated appraisals of properties using the name of a licensed appraiser.
The Utah Attorney General's Office claims the Cassitys used straw buyers to obtain loans at the inflated values and skimmed several million dollars in equity from the properties.
