Tonya Papanikolas ReportingThree people remain in critical condition this morning after they were stabbed at a party.
"The guy came and passed out over here, another guy passed out over there. I called the police cause I didn't know what was going on."
Police say the stabbing stemmed from a theft incident. Officers were able to track down the suspects and arrest them.
Neighbors say the people who live at the house where the stabbing took place have parties quite a bit; but aside from the noise, they've never really had any trouble. Saturday night that changed.
A group of people had gathered for a party in Taylorsville when police say someone's wallet and purse disappeared. After party-goers confronted who they thought did it, an argument and fight broke out.
Sarah Price, Witness: "I looked out the window, cause I heard a lot of, a lot of people cussing, swearing at each other and stuff. I looked out the window and I saw these two girls fighting in the street."
The girls weren't the only ones fighting. Police say two men stabbed three different people -- a woman, her husband and another man.
Sarah Price: "I saw somebody on the front porch and apparently he was the guy that got stabbed quite a few times. He just kept falling to the ground and nobody was really doing anything."
Two of the victims were flown to the hospital by helicopter. One was transported by ambulance.
Kevin Drachman, Neighbor: "Scary. Yeah, we want to move."
The suspects took off in a black car. Police knew who the suspects were, and shortly after the stabbing officers tracked them to the Preston Hollow apartments in the Millcreek area. As the SWAT team arrived, officers evacuated neighbors.
Tim VanZeben, Evacuated: "Was woken up by pounding on the door. I opened it and I was told to put my shoes on and leave."
Scott Gantz, Resident: "I actually took my gun out of my safe. Cause I didn't know what to expect when I walked out the door."
The neighbors were safe, but the SWAT team faced a potentially dangerous situation. They surrounded the apartment with gear and dogs, and after a couple hours, the suspects and many witnesses surrendered.
Del Craig, Taylorsville Police Chief: "We're very fortunate. We're glad that at least this end of the outcome was safe."
This was a pretty brutal stabbing. Tanja Sabanovic was stabbed nine times. Loris Sabanovic was stabbed in the carotid artery in the neck. And Aldin Mahmutoni was stabbed in the face, shoulder and hips. All of them are in critical condition.
As for the suspects, police have arrested a 17-year-old male and 26-year-old Narron Ployngam on attempted homicide charges. They are both from Oakland, California.
Officers also have 24 witnesses to interview.
