PARIS, Nov 26, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- A who's who of beautiful people gathered in Paris for a debutante ball, a charity fundraiser in which 23 young women "came out" before invited guests.

This year's "New Debs," ages 17 to 21, represented 14 countries during the the Bal de Debutantes, or Crillon Ball, the Sunday Telegraph said.

Among the glitterati at Saturday's ball were Countess Sofia de Pahlen, granddaughter of the late Fiat patriarch Gianni Agnelli; Julie Boeri, whose father is a Monaco crown council member; and Eppie and India Windsor-Clive, descendants of Clive of India.

The belle was Hannah Olivennes, daughter of actress Kristin Scott Thomas and her estranged husband, gynecologist Dr Francois Olivennes, the Telegraph said.

"I wasn't at all brought up with the whole society thing, so, for me, this is really all just a bit of fun," the 18-year-old said. "I'm not trying to launch myself as anything, and all the girls are really unpretentious. But as soon as Chanel was mentioned, I was sold.

"Who could resist playing at being a princess for a night?"
