SALT LAKE CITY -- This week is the last week Granite High School will ever be open. Tuesday, students started saying their goodbyes.
For the last time, Granite High school students sang the "Song of the G." As the band played outside at a barbecue, Senior Class Vice-President Esad Ferhatbegovic said he has friends, teachers and memories.
"I will visit the teachers and stuff, and I have my phone numbers and stuff. It will be all good. We'll go on," he said.
The student body chanted with their teachers, "We are Granite!" That's the message students are leaving with. Their school is closing, but they are Granite.
The school now has only around 300 students, after it was made an alternative high school. A few weeks ago the Granite School Board voted to close the school to save money. The school is closing for good after graduation Friday.
