LINDON, Utah (AP) -- More than 800 people showed up to mark the opening of Lindon's new $10 million water park.

The city-run Lindon Aquatic Center has been used a few times by city officials for testing and training but Saturday was the first time the public was allowed in.

Dan Seder, the city's parks and recreation director, says the center has hired 65 lifeguards and 25 office staff for the facility.

The center, east of city hall, sits on a 2.5-acre campus that includes a leisure pool, a lap pool, hot tub and other features. It will be open through Labor Day.
