(KSL News) A true war hero returned to Utah tonight.

Army Specialist Cody Henscheid is home on leave from Iraq, with a warm welcome for loved ones. The family of fellow reservist Michael Pace of Evanston, Wyoming, was also there to meet Cody.

Marie Pace, Michael Pace's Mother: "If it wasn't for Cody, my son wouldn't be alive."

Community Celebrates Soldier's Return

Cody pulled himself and Michael Pace from a wrecked truck in the vicinity of Mosul, Iraq. Both made it out okay. Cody says he had help from a higher power.

Cody Henscheid, 423rd Transportation Co.: "I said it before-- I know God was with us that day because there was no way that either of us was getting out of that truck without protection, and we had it."

There's a big party in Cody's hometown of Alpine, tonight.

For his actions in Iraq, he received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star with Valor. He heads back to Iraq in two weeks.
