Sandra Yi ReportingSouth Salt Lake police say Henry Jackson went on a rampage and an assault spree this afternoon. He drove his car up on a curb and struck his ex-girlfriend.
Police say the 18-year old stabbing victim is lucky to be alive today. His dog was taken to the vet and we don't have any update on the condition of the dog at this point.
The ex-girlfriend tells us Jackson went on a rampage because she won't tell him where she's moving. Jackson was at the apartment complex in his car when the woman and her son came home. He put his car into gear and tried to run them down. He then backed up and ran over the woman's foot.
When her son came to her rescue, Jackson stabbed him several times with a butcher knife. He also stabbed the family dog when it tried to protect its owner.
Victim: "After he got through stabbing my son, then he came after me. Hit me in the head and telling me to get in the car, that he was gonna kill me."
Capt. Tracy Tingey, South Salt Lake Police Dept.: "This is a dangerous individual, to do what he did today. I mean, he ran a person down, stabbed another person and then stabbed a dog. This guy needs to be taken off the street and we're doing everything we can to do that as quickly as possible."
The couple has been going through a break-up. The woman tells us Jackson has been threatening her. In fact, he also showed up to her home last night, upset that she wouldn't tell him where she's moving. He tried to run down the woman's son and 15-year old niece down last night too.
This afternoon KSL learned Jackson recently got out of prison after serving a 20 year sentence for murder. Police have not released his name, but say they do consider him armed and dangerous.
He was driving a 1997 Saturn SL2 four-door sedan with the Utah license plate 834 NZE. Anyone with information about Jackson should call police.
