OGDEN -- A family whose daughter died during an Ogden police chase in 2005 is suing the Ogden Police Department.
Jessica Nelson was killed when a man being chased by Ogden police officers ran a red light and slammed into her car.
"I hope that they will stop these police chases that don't need to be here. They really don't need to do what they're doing. I don't want any more people to die," said Theresa Nelson, Jessica's stepmother.
The Nelson family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the Ogden Police Department and the officers involved. One of those officers is off the force now after he was caught stealing wallets from illegal immigrants during traffic stops.
KSL News contacted Ogden police about the Nelson case. They said they can't comment until next week.
