Press ReleaseWEST VALLEY CITY -- The Alaska Aces defeated the Utah Grizzlies 5-2 Friday night at the E-Center before 5,962 fans. The Aces now lead the best-of-seven series three games to one with game five scheduled for Saturday at 7:05 p.m. at the E-Center.

The Grizzlies trailed form the 8:14 mark of the first period before the Aces made it 2-0 at 9:34. Grizzlies Head Coach Kevin Colley then called timeout and Utah responded with Vladimir Nikiforov beating Aces goaltender J.P. Lamoureux on a breakaway to make the score 2-1. Alaska made it 3-1 with 36 seconds left to go in the first period.

Alaska added the second period's only goal on a power-play and each team traded goals 20 seconds apart early in the third period. James Sixsmith capped off Utah's scoring at 1:23 of the frame to make the game 5-2.

Mike Walsh had two assists for the Grizzlies. Mike Mole stopped 20 of 25 shots under limited support from his teammates.
