SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Questar Gas is offering households a one-time rebate worth about $40 due to rapidly falling market prices for natural gas.
Questar executives were walking the request to the Utah Public Service Commission -- two blocks away -- which is expected to approve it.
Questar spokesman Chad Jones says the rebate will show up as a credit on bills issued in May.
A rebate is highly unusual for customers of the regulated utility, which normally adjusts its rates twice a year to reflect market changes.
But Questar says natural gas prices are falling so fast a rebate is the quickest way to get savings to customers. The rebate will total $50 million for all customers.
