SALT LAKE CITY -- A 12- and 14-year-old were hit by a car when they tried to cross five lanes of traffic in Salt Lake City.
Just after 5 p.m. the two girls were crossing 800 South at approximately 350 East when they were struck by an oncoming car.
They were not in a crosswalk.
Both girls were taken to the hospital with minor injuries and are expected to be OK.
The driver stayed on scene and told police they appeared out of nowhere.
