(KSL News) Today renovations at the state Capitol enter their final year.

The work is in a critical stage.

The renovations will make the building earthquake safe.

Crews hope an earthquake doesn't happpen before they finish installing shock absorbers. Geologists say Utah is overdue for a 7-magnitude quake or greater.

Officials say the construction, which began two years ago, will finish one year from now.
