AMERICAN FORK - Police booked two men into the Utah County jail for breaking into an elementary school and stealing a bag with $800 worth of books in it.
Sgt. Gregg Ludlow of the American Fork Police Department says officers found one of the suspects, 24-year-old Jason Dynes, when they responded to a domestic violence call on March 30.
Police hadn't had much luck tracking down whoever broke into Greenwood Elementary School at 50 E. 200 South in American Fork recently.
"There was damage to the door and some items were missing, specifically a backpack containing approximately $800 worth of books," Ludlow said.
When police responded to the domestic violence call, someone at the scene said not only was the suspect hurting his wife, he had also broken into a school recently.
Ludlow says the suspect confessed and then told police his relative, 44-year-old Pedro Jurado was also involved in the break in. Ludlow says the suspects thought a computer was in the heavy bag they took, not books.
At this point, police say they haven't found any evidence to link the men to other recent school burglaries in the county.
