Taylorsville -- Police arrested two brothers they say tried to rob a man at his home in broad daylight over the weekend, and police think they may be linked to two additional robberies.
Detective Shannon Bennett, with the Taylorsville City Police Department, says on Saturday the men accosted a 61-year-old as he was working in his garage near 4300 South and 1100 West. Bennett says the struggle was interrupted, and the two men fled.
The suspects fled in white KIA Sportage. A neighbor who witnessed the crime wrote down the license plate of the vehicle and gave it to police.
Leo Charles Collins, 24, and Robert Collins, 19, were arrested in Grantsville.
Bennett won't say exactly how the robbery was interrupted, nor how the men were located, but he says the victim did suffer some injuries to his head and face during the assault.
Friday afternoon, Bennett says someone matching the men's description followed a Taylorsville woman to her home in the Monte Vista Trailer Park near 4600 South and 800 West. She had just gone to the bank. The men showed a handgun and demanded money. She was not injured, but the men got away with a small amount of money.
South Salt Lake police say men with a similar description also robbed a man as he was walking down the street near 3400 South and 200 East.
Officer Gary Keller says the men asked the victims for directions and then pulled a handgun on him before forcing him to the ground and taking his money.
In all cases, police say the men were driving a white SUV. Police are trying to confirm a possible link between the cases.
Both men have been booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on aggravated robbery and burglary charges.
