(KSL News) -- There's new action to report in an Eyewitness News Investigation. Mascot Financial can no longer operate as a credit services organization.

The Provo company promised to get people out of debt sooner. Today, the Utah Commerce Department pulled Mascot's permit to offer credit services.

The main reason? The state says Mascot wrongly charged customers thousands of dollars in up-front fees before performing services.

Eyewitness News uncovered this illegal practice and took 40 complaints to investigators. Since then, the state has heard from more than 200 other unhappy clients.

Mascot still faces hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines.
