Press ReleaseWEST VALLEY CITY -- The Phoenix RoadRunners defeated the Utah Grizzlies (27-26-6-10) Wednesday night at the E-Center.

After the Grizzlies scored three goals in the first period Tuesday night, the RoadRunners came out in the first period Wednesday and scored three goals early. Of those three goals, Phoenix scored one on the power-play and one shorthanded goal.

In the second period, Phoenix opened the lead to 4-0 with a goal at 4:28.

The Grizzlies started to fight back in the third, with a goal by Jordan Hart (2) at 8:55 to make it 4-1. Rob Hennigar added his 15th of the season scoring at 18:04 but the Grizzlies comeback would run out of time.

After the game Grizzlies Head Coach Kevin Colley said, "The way we came out yesterday and then the opposite tonight is definitely disappointing. Their heads just weren't in it."

Midway through the second period, Utah goaltender Mike Mole had to be helped off the ice by Athletic Trainer Mike Plandowski and fellow teammate Evan Stoflet. Robert Gherson came in and finished the game stopping all nine shots put on him; holding the RoadRunners scoreless from that point on.

The Grizzlies will be next in action Friday in Stockton in their second attempt to clinch a playoff berth with a win in regulation. Face-off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m.

Utah returns home to complete the regular season Friday, April 3 and Saturday, April 4 against Alaska. Face-off both evenings is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
