SALT LAKE CITY -- What do you get when you mix water, fish and a 7-year-old's sneakers? You apparently get shoes that are downright stinky and a little boy who might just make some money off of them.

You'll just have to take Joshua Boothe's word for it; his sneakers stink, but that's the point.

"I am going to the final part of the stinky shoe contest," he told us.

Joshua is on his way to Vermont to compete for Odor-Eater's national title of "Rotten Sneaker." He's already won in Utah at a contest held during the state fair back in September.

So what's his secret to smelly sneakers? "I've been wearing them out a lot," Joshua said.

Not only that, he wore them while fishing and, apparently, the muddy water mixed with fish did the trick!

Joshua's hoping the judges in Vermont will agree that his sneakers stink. The smell of stench could win Joshua $2,500.

Joshua says he can think of about a million things he could buy with the prize money if he wins. His parents say, if he wins, it's all going in the bank.

The winner will be announced on Tuesday.
