WHITE CITY -- A frantic mother called authorities after she came face to face with a masked man at her home in White City. She and her children escaped unharmed.

Sheriff's deputies say the woman told them a man wearing a ski mask and carrying a gun barged into her home near 1200 East and Forget Me Not Avenue by breaking a back window around 1:30 a.m. Friday. They say he threatened her, and she grabbed her children.

Lt. Jason Johnson of the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office said, "Apparently the victim was able to round up her kids and make a break from the residence to her vehicle and drove down several blocks from here, where she contacted the sheriff's office."

Deputies say the robber took some items from the home.

Officers used police dogs to try to locate the man but didn't find him. Investigators say they are following several leads in the case.
