(KSL News) A good reminder this morning about having working smoke detectors in your house.

A man woke up twice this morning to the smell of smoke but didn't realize anything was wrong until he woke up a third time and noticed the ceiling in his house blistering.

The man and his mother were able to get out of the house unharmed. When crews arrived at 1600 West 2800 South, smoke was pouring from the eaves and out of the windows.

Firefighters were able to get the fire under control fairly quickly.

The fire apparently started in the attic, probably from an electrical problem.

The house did not have any working smoke detectors.
