This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.
If there's one constant in today's business world, it's change. But as we sadly see, those businesses that refuse change, or are "cast in bronze" so to speak, are soon forgotten.
Well, as I recently found out, dentistry is a profession definitely not "cast in bronze" but is continually evolving.
Dr. Allan Thomas, who operates his dental studio in Salt Lake City, tells me he repeatedly participates in continuing education in order to stay up on what's new in dentistry. As a result, he feels his practice is on the cutting edge of dental technology with such innovations as electric hand pieces (much more comfortable than air, I'm told) and laser dentistry, which he added several years ago.
The practice performs general and cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Thomas says about a quarter of his work is cosmetic which includes teeth whitening and dental implants. He also offers sedation dentistry, designed for people who are afraid of having dental work or treatment done. The patient can come in, go to sleep while the work is completed and wake up once it's all over.
Dr. Thomas attended dental school in Portland, Ore. Following his graduation from the program, he elected to do a two-year residency at the University of Connecticut to learn advanced dentistry with an emphasis in full-mouth reconstruction. He moved back to Salt Lake City and opened his practice in 1990. His office is located on Parley's Way by the mouth of Parley's Canyon.
Dr. Thomas sees dentistry becoming more exact with the constantly evolving new technology. He has two professional passions: creating someone's dream smile and helping patients realize their ideal oral health through treatment and prevention.
For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
