Some Teachers Train for Concealed Weapons Permits

A concealed weapon permit in the state of Utah allows teachers to carry a gun at school. Naturally, this has received some criticism. Some say teachers with guns only creates the potential for more accidents. But these teachers say it's a risk they're willing to take.

Nick Pond/college teacher: "I think first responders are nice. It's good to have campus police, good to have local police. But anyone can get into the schools nowadays."

Maura Carabello/Gun Violence Prevention Center: "We can't thrive under fear. As horrible as those incidents are, they are still few in numbers. We are still much more likely to have an accidental shooting by a well-intentioned teacher than the kinds of acts we've been seeing over the last month."

Today's training session only begins the application process for a concealed weapons permit.
