(KSL News) -- The Delta Petroleum Company called in out of state crews to help contain a leak at a gas well.
Workers were drilling in Grand County, about three miles south of Green River, when they found more natural gas than their equipment could handle. The extra gas started leaking into the air.
Crews plan to divert the extra gas into a flare pit and burn it off. They will then adjust their equipment to handle the extra gas.
Officials say the gas is not a danger to populated areas and is dissipating the into the air.
