(KSL News) In the wake of financial turmoil, one Utah group is trying to help people find the silver lining and make the most of their tax returns.
The Utah Community Action Partnership Association (UCAPA)offered free tax advice today for families making less than $42,000 a year. Representatives from other assistance programs were also there to help people work through difficult financial times.
Kori Shaw, an asset development coordinator for UCAPA, said, "With the economic crisis facing many individuals these days, during this time we just want to be able to assist those families that need assistance."
The Financial Fitness Fair was organized to promote smart money management. It included presentations and information booths, as well as the free income tax preparation assistance. Families could also sign up for programs like Medicaid, heat assistance and food stamps.
