(KSL News) -- A Utah teen convicted in the brutal stabbing of two children will spend almost 50 years in prison.
Yesterday Monique Maestas was sentenced to 47 years in prison for her role in the stabbing death old three-year-old Kristyanna Cowan in Mesquite Nevada three years ago. Cowan's 10-year old sister Brittney Bergeron was also stabbed and left paralyzed.
Authorities said Maestas and her brother Beau committed the crimes in retaliation for a bad drug deal with the girls' mother.
