Gene Kennedy reporting A startling surprise for a West Valley couple, when a police chase ends right outside their front door.
It's not every day a chase ends on your front lawn, but that's exactly what happened to West Valley couple Jay and Carol Peterson late last night.
Carol Peterson, West Valley Resident: "It was very frightening; I was just watching the news in my house, and heard a lot of sirens. My first thought was, is this on this on TV or is it coming down the road? And it got louder and louder."
It was a high-speed chase, heading straight for the Peterson's West Valley home.
Jamie Muramoto, Neighbor: "I saw all the cops with the vehicle coming. I saw them bump, and I saw them coming right for the houses. I thought he was gonna come right through the hedge."
The stolen car never hit the Peterson's home but came close enough.
Carol Peterson, West Valley Resident: "I ran to the front door, opened the front door, and there was a stolen car right in front of my porch, 15 or 20 police cars, police officers swarming all over the place. I just slammed the door shut."
Jay Peterson, West Valley Resident: "The front fender on the policemen's car was banged up. The fender on the stolen car was banged up on the left side."
Police arrested Craig Ainsworth and Amanda Kvenvold. Officers say the two left a drug house in an SUV with two license plates. Police say they tried to pull the truck over, and that's when the chase began.
The chase went from Taylorsville to the Peterson's neighborhood in West Valley City.
Inside the truck, officers say they found meth, tools used for robberies, drug distribution and financial fraud.
Upsetting as it is, the Petersons know the outcome could have been worse.
Carol Peterson, West Valley Resident: "I think we're very blessed it didn't hit our house. We could have lost our home or our vehicles."
Police say the two suspects already had warrants out for their arrest. That's probably why they refused to pull over in the first place.
