NEW YORK, Oct 4, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Author Stephen King is due to release his latest novel, "Lisey's Story," just in time for Halloween.

The book, which revolves around the widow of a fictional Pulitzer prize-winning author, is being aggressively pushed by his publisher, Scribner, in the run-up to the Oct. 24 release date.

The New York Times said Wednesday Scribner sent out 7,000 galleys to booksellers and the media -- some of which quickly turned up on e-Bay.

Pure horror fans might find the literary "Lisey's Story" a bit tame; although there is a strange alternate world called "Boo-ya Moon" that the heroine and her husband travel to on occasion.

King himself is pleased with the effort, which he began while recovering from pneumonia three years ago, the Times said. He said that while he won't go so far as to call it a classic, he feels it is a "lucky" book and was pleasantly surprised at how well it came out.
