Sam Penrod ReportingA man spending life in prison without parole for killing a Richfield woman could soon face another murder trial. Arizona Prosecutors now want to try Morris Mullins for a similar crime there.

Morris Mullins, who is now 23-years old, is serving life in prison without the possibility of parole. Now Arizona authorities are seeking justice in a murder case there, as an insurance policy that Mullins is never free again.

It was a horrible crime in Richfield five years ago. Longtime resident, Amy Davis who was 78-years old, was found murdered inside her home. Evidence linked the crime to then 17-year old Morris Mullins, who later took a plea deal that spared him the possibility of the death penalty.

Just three weeks before the Richfield crime, Mullins had been released from an Arizona jail because there was not enough evidence to hold him in the murder of an 80-year old woman. Now prosecutors tell Eyewitness News they are charging Mullins in the death of 80-year old Lillian Kraetch.

While Mullins is serving life without parole, he took the plea deal before the US Supreme Court ruled that juveniles could not be executed. That prompted Mullins to ask to withdraw his guilty plea.

It's not yet know if Mullins will fight extradition. Either way, Arizona authorities hope to have him in court in Arizona by the end of this year.
