A new trend in healthy eating could change the way you go out to eat in Utah.

Both the state and Salt Lake County health departments are considering a voluntary program that would ask restaurants to start providing calorie content and other information about the food they serve.

University of Utah nutritionist Julie Metos loves the idea. "We know from the similar program in New York City that people usually, if they see the calories, will eat about 100 less calories per meal," she said.

It may not sound like a lot, but those calories add up over time.

In addition to New York, Seattle also requires chain restaurants to provide calorie content. Other cities are considering the move.
