This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.
Where do you like to go to get away? I love to travel and have many destinations I return to year after year. However, sometimes it's nice to go somewhere close to home, such as a charming bed and breakfast like the Providence Inn in beautiful Cache Valley.
Karl Seethaler, who owns the Providence Inn, tells me he purchased the property where the inn is located in 1993 because the continued existence of the Old Rock Church, which currently houses the Providence Inn, was in jeopardy. He wanted to make the historic building into a living museum so people in the valley and beyond could continue to enjoy it for years to come. With the help of his daughter, Sonya Davis, who was just graduating from Utah State University at the time, Karl launched the Providence Inn.
The Providence Inn is designed to provide guests the opportunity to step back in time. All 17 rooms are decorated in unique themes, which include everything from Victorian to New Orleans to a Presidential Suite, and come complete with jetted hot tubs, complimentary hot breakfast, TV/DVD players and a large selection of movies to choose from.
The chapel at the Old Rock Church serves as an exquisite wedding and reception center. The chapel portion of the building is the oldest building of its stature in Cache Valley. Along with a 1926 addition, the entire building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Karl tells me the Old Rock Church was recently renovated to add new features and upgrade the landscaping. It now has a beautiful bridal dressing room with a vanity and three-way mirror. A cascading staircase also gives the bride a way to make her dramatic entrance.
Both Karl and his staff hope to continually improve their businesses. They love the extensive history of the property and the buildings, and their goal is to help guests of the Providence Inn and Old Rock Church feel like a part of history.
