Nothing like a convincing victory to upset the proverbial apple cart!
That's what Utah's Utes have done with last Friday's stunning defeat of Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. They deserve every plaudit coming their way. KSL joins all Utahns in celebrating what the team accomplished.
However, there is one prize they also arguably deserve but won't receive. Despite being the nation's only unbeaten major college football team, the Utes won't be crowned national champion. Nor will they have any opportunity to advance and win the trophy outright. That sullied prize will go to one of two teams, both already with losses, but shrewdly selected to play in what a few arrogant and conniving money mongers call the BCS National Championship Game.
What the Utes did to Alabama and the way they did it has done more than any other event in the ten-year history of the BCS to expose the flawed system's credibility. The fact this is the Ute's second undefeated season in five years and their second successful BCS busting victory underscores the level of success the U's football program has achieved.
Hopefully Utah's victory will do more than temporarily upset the apple cart. Let it become a catalyst for overhauling the way college football's national champion is crowned.
