Actor/director PATRICK QUINN suffered a massive heart attack and died at home in Pennsylvania yesterday (24SEP06), just 10 days before taking over as the executive director of US theatre union Actors' Equity.

The 56-year-old, who had been the union's president since 2000, was slated to take over the top position from ALAN EISENBERG on 5 October (06).

A stage star, Quinn appeared on Broadway, New York in FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, BEAUTY & THE BEAST and a 1998 revival of THE SOUND OF MUSIC. (KL/DV/GES)
