LEHI — A man who police say was asked to leave a dinner because of his level of intoxication and reacted by grabbing his rifle and firing shots into a room was arrested Sunday.

Carlos E. Rodriquez-Villasenor, 35, was booked into the Utah County Jail for investigation of six counts of illegal discharge of a firearm, causing property damage, making a threat of violence, three counts of domestic violence in the presence of a child and carrying a weapon while under the influence.

Sunday night, Rodriquez's girlfriend wanted to have dinner with her children and mother, "but, due to Carlos' level of intoxication and the odor of alcohol, he was asked to leave. Carlos reacted negatively to this request and made the conscious decision to retrieve an AR-style rifle," according to a police booking affidavit.

He then threatened to kill the woman's mother and fired off six rounds in the girlfriend's room, the affidavit states.

"This act caused damage to the property, including holes in the walls, concrete, corrugated steel from the window well, and a window, as well as damage to some of the complainant's belongings, including a mirror, television, and dresser," according to the affidavit. "While firing the rifle, Carlos was aware that two of the victims, and their three children, were on the other side of the wall."

Police were contacted through a 911 text message, and officers arrested Rodriquez.
