SALT LAKE CITY — A man died from his injuries after being hit by a car Friday morning in Salt Lake City.

"Based on the time, it was most likely low-light conditions," Lovell said. "There were some officers in the area when the incident happened, and so they were able to render aid. Medical responded and took over assisting and ultimately transported the patient to an area hospital, where he's in critical condition."

Marchant was transported to a local hospital, but died several hours after arriving, police said.

Lovell added that the driver of the vehicle remained on scene and was fully cooperating with law enforcement.
