SALT LAKE CITY — With three weeks left in the regular season, the top of the rankings remain a built fluid.
And while there's a familiar face back at the No. 1 spot after a one-week break, there's a Davis County team that is making its name known and is pushing for the top spot.
What more can you ask for as the regular season draws closer to its end?
1. Corner Canyon (6-1)
Coming off its first loss of the season, Corner Canyon answered back with a vengeance, taking out all the frustration on a Skyridge team who was previously ranked No. 2. A 28-point second quarter was good enough to do the trick.
2. Davis (6-1)
Davis quarterback Tradon Bessinger may be the best in the state at what he does on the field. The Boise State commit threw five touchdown passes to four different receivers en route to a 54-22 win over a good Syracuse team.
3. American Fork (6-1)
American Fork took a double-digit first-half lead over Region 3 opponent Lone Peak Friday, but only managed 3 points in the second half. The Cavemen allowed 14 fourth-quarter points, but it was enough to get a close win against a tough region opponent who was previously No. 1 coming into the game.
4. Ridgeline (7-0)
If not for the state's Region 3 dominance — and the solid play of Davis — there's no question that Ridgeline belongs at the top of the rankings. Don't let its 4A classification distract from Ridgeline's actual talent; they're a well-balanced team and are the clear favorites to win a 4A title.

5. Herriman (7-0)
That three-win season is now a distant memory. This Herriman team is battled tested and a great team. The undefeated record was nearly broken, but the Mustangs lived to see another day with a 22-21 win over Lehi — on a go-ahead touchdown by Gavin Hansen with 30 seconds left in the game no less.
6. Lone Peak (5-2)
It's a five-spot fall after losing to American Fork by 3 points last weekend; it's a tough life maintaining that top spot. The Knights still feature two of the most electric athletes in Kennan and Jaron Pula, and there's going to be some added motivation after last weekend's loss.
7. West (6-1)
The schedule lays up well for West to roll to a Region 4 title, but it's not a done deal yet, especially with Granger and West Jordan undefeated in region play. But a 70-6 win over Taylorsville last week shows the type of offensive assault the Panthers are capable of this season.
8. Orem (5-2)
Orem has had a bit of an up-and-down season, but the Tigers secured a 22-9 victory over Timpview Friday, the first such instance since the 2020 season. Utah commit Aisa Galea'i put the finishing touches on the win with a 49-yard touchdown run with just under two minutes left in the game.

9. Skyridge (5-2)
The aforementioned bounce back performance by Corner Canyon left Skyridge without much to do in a blowout loss. The Falcons remain one of the best teams in the state and are certainly underrated at No. 9. Quarterback Kaneal Sweetwyne is still on the roster, and he's more than capable of fueling a Falcons run.
10. Mountain Ridge (5-2)
Welcome to the top 10, Mountain Ridge! The Sentinels overwhelmed Riverton with a 35-0 start to the game behind a three touchdown performance by Kohen Cunningham in the first half. Cunningham added a fourth late in the game, with all but one scores being big plays of 23-, 42- and 33-yard TD catches.
Here's the rest of the Top 20:
- 11 - Springville (6-1)
- 12 - Crimson Cliffs (6-1)
- 13 - Lehi (4-3)
- 14 - Woods Cross (5-2)
- 15 - Fremont (6-1)
- 16 - Syracuse (5-2)
- 17 - Morgan (6-1)
- 18 - Box Elder (6-1)
- 19 - Cedar City (7-0)
- 20 - Granger (6-1)
Plus-1: Skyline (5-2)
Before there was Corner Canyon ... or Bingham ... there was Skyline for a long stretch of time. But the Eagles have fallen on tougher times and has had a more difficult time competing in the current era of high school football.
But on Friday, Skyline put together a convincing (and overwhelming) effort against another former top team who has fallen to the bottom in Cottonwood. The Eagles managed six touchdowns in the first half before the Colts got on the board.
The scoring wasn't done there, as Skyline added three more touchdowns — a seventh in the first half — en route to a 62-17 win over Cottonwood.
