TAYLORSVILLE — A Taylorsville man was charged Monday with drugging and sexually assaulting a teenage girl for over a week.
Andrew Owen, 22, is charged in 3rd District Court with rape, a first-degree felony; three counts of drug distribution, a second-degree felony; child endangerment and being a restricted person in possession of a weapon, third-degree felonies; and two counts of drug possession, a class A misdemeanor.
A 14-year-old girl told police say she recently contacted Owen on social media and asked him for a ride home. But when Owen picked the girl up, he told her that he had "a bunch of drugs" and she agreed to go to his residence and "the next thing she knew a week or two had gone by," according to charging documents
The teen told investigators that "she kept trying to leave, but each time she tried, Owen wouldn't let her," the charges allege. At one point, she claims she overdosed while with Owen, who had to use Narcan on her.
"(She) then described that Owen had 'drugged and raped her.' She also reported that Owen would slap and throw her around," according to the charges.
Taylorsville police served a search warrant on Owen's residence and recovered drugs and a gun, according to court documents.
"The defendant, in this matter, brought the victim to his residence, where she stayed for approximately 10 days. The victim reported that during that time, the defendant drugged, raped and physically assaulted her," the charges state. "This investigation is ongoing which could result in additional charges."
