ST. GEORGE — A new woman-owned tattoo shop in St. George is opening with prizes, giveaways and local vendors, but the celebration goes beyond tattoos; it's a way to give back. Half the proceeds will reportedly benefit a local counseling service supporting domestic violence survivors and people without access to mental health care.

The grand opening for Transcendent Studios, located at 419 N. Bluff Street, will be held Saturday, Sept. 13, from noon to 6 p.m. The event will include food trucks, cotton candy and local vendors with permanent jewelry and henna tattoos. Discounted tattoos and piercings will also be available.

As part of its grand opening, Transcendent Studios partnered with Alaffia Counseling to support those in need of mental health services. Half of the proceeds from henna, piercings and tattoos will benefit the organization, with several vendors also pledging donations, Transcendent Studios owner April Sevy told St. George News. Five gift baskets will be raffled off throughout the day, and Sevy said each donation gives attendees extra chances in the giveaways.

Sevy further explained the importance of partnering with Alaffia Counseling for this event.
