VINEYARD — A Vineyard woman arrested Monday has now been charged with trying to kill her roommate.

Annika Rayelle Goodrich, 25, was charged Friday in 4th District Court with attempted murder, a first-degree felony, and two counts of assault on a police officer, a class A misdemeanor.

Utah County sheriff's deputies were originally called to a domestic violence incident at Goodrich's residence Monday evening. A woman who lives with Goodrich told investigators that she was sitting in her bedroom when Goodrich entered and said "she was going to break her neck," according to charging documents.

"(Goodrich) put both hands on (the victim's) head and began pulling and twisting (her) head. (The victim) described the motion as 'how people would break someone's neck in a movie,' and she believed defendant was going to kill her," the charges allege.

When deputies questioned Goodrich, she said her roommate "needed to die" and made the comment, "Yeah, I tried to kill her" and attempted to "snap" the woman's neck, according to the charges.

Goodrich was handcuffed and told to sit on a couch, but began kicking at two deputies, police say.

"(Goodrich) said the deputies were being mean to her and started to walk away," the charges state.

The victim told investigators that Goodrich "has been physical in the past, but never has been violent to this extent, where the victim began fearing for (her) life. The victim reported to deputies that Goodrich has made comments in the past that she was going to slit the victim's throat in the night," deputies wrote in a police booking affidavit.
