HURRICANE, Washington County — A man suspected of starting a wildfire near Confluence Park north of Hurricane, in Washington County, over the weekend is in jail.

Late Sunday, 28-year-old Brad-Lee Edward Bellmore, of Hurricane, was arrested and booked into jail for investigation of three counts of arson, according to a police booking affidavit.

Earlier that evening, Hurricane police received a report of arson in the area of Confluence Park.

"Multiple citizens reported that a fire had started, and black smoke was visible," the officer notes in the report. "One of the citizens reported that there was an arsonist, and they could see him down in the canyon."
