THISTLE, Utah County — Officials released the identity of the motorcyclist who died on Pioneer Day near Thistle Junction in Spanish Fork Canyon after a collision with another vehicle.

A vehicle was turning from U.S. 89 onto westbound U.S. 6 when the motorcyclist, who was eastbound on U.S. 6, collided with the vehicle, said Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Cam Roden.

The Utah Department of Public Safety said the driver of the motorcycle, later identified as Brian Ezell, 40, of Helper, was thrown about 150 feet and then down a 50- to 75-foot embankment.

Ezell's family said in his obituary that he had a light that drew people to him.

"When Brian spent time with you, he showed you love, if he sat up with you at night he showed you love. If he sat in the dirt with you he showed you love. If he gave you a hug he showed you love. If he met you for the first time he showed you love," the obituary states.
