Dutch motorcyclist killed in crash on US 6 in Emery County

WOODSIDE, Emery County — A 57-year-old motorcyclist died in a crash Wednesday on U.S. 6 in Emery County, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

The accident happened about 12:30 p.m. in Horse Canyon near milepost 268 when the motorcycle crashed into the back of a semitruck, said UHP spokesman Lt. Cam Roden. He said the motorcycle driver died at the scene.

Troopers said the motorcyclist was a 57-year-old man from the Netherlands. Officials have not released the man's identity.

The accident prompted the temporary closure of U.S. 6 in both directions near the intersection with Horse Canyon Road, north of Woodside, according to the Utah Department of Transportation. Traffic in both directions has since been reopened.
