WEST VALLEY CITY — A West Valley woman is facing criminal charges accusing her of firing multiple times at her brother-in-law as he drove away, apparently because she thought her sister was being harmed.

Lashawn Denise Doster, 43, was charged Wednesday in 3rd District Court with six counts of discharge of a firearm, a third-degree felony.

On Sept. 23, police were called to a report of an aggravated domestic violence incident. They arrived to find several shell casings in the road, according to charging documents.

Doster told police she saw her brother-in-law drive away "with her sister half out of the car. Doster stated she thought she saw (her brother-in-law hit her sister) with his vehicle. Doster stated she then fired (at his) vehicle to get him to stop," the charges state.

Police found seven casings in the road and six bullet holes in the car, including "one in the front passenger headlight, one in the hood, two in the windshield by the driver's side and two in the driver's side door," according to the charges.

No serious injuries were reported.
