SALT LAKE CITY— Police have identified an 81-year-old man who drowned while duck hunting on the Great Salt Lake on Tuesday.

Vince Badger, 70, and Kenneth Hill, 81, were duck hunting near the Ambassador Duck Club northwest of the Salt Lake City International Airport. Both men were out of the boat retrieving duck decoys when Badger noticed Hill was face down in the water, the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office said Thursday.

Badger brought Hill to a nearby island, where he performed CPR. Sheriff's deputies were called to the lake at about 7:40 p.m., but Hill died at the scene.

"The deceased body was later recovered. A dog and boat belonging to the deceased was turned over to family. The investigation is ongoing but alcohol appears to be a contributing factor," the sheriff's office stated.

Badger was flown to dry land and evaluated by emergency crews, the Salt Lake City Fire Department said.
