THE DESERT — It's no secret that Utah's deserts are home to many wonders of nature. From impressive flora and fauna to extreme, biblical-esque weather events, there is always something to marvel at.

But what otherworldly things lurk amongst the red dirt and rock?

Hikers exploring Utah's arches were in for quite the surprise when they encountered a ghoul making its way through a canyon.

No, not a real ghoul. But a man in a very convincing costume.

The man under the mask is Brandon Johnson, a self-described costume builder, inventor, performer puppeteer, experience curator and artist.

Johnson's Instagram and YouTube accounts are full of costumes he's designed and light-hearted pranks he plays on people by bringing his extremely detailed creations to places where they can be seen and appreciated (at least once the initial shock and terror has subsided.)

What would you do if you were to encounter one of Johnson's costumes in the wild?
