KATY, Texas — New fear unlocked: a glass sliding door shattering unexpectedly when I am next to it.
That is exactly what happened to an employee at the Modern Halo Head Spa and Dry Bar in Katy, Texas. The salon worker grabbed supplies and was coming back into the room to help her client when she gently touched the handle of a sliding glass door.
After pulling for barely a second, the door just completely shattered, spraying glass everywhere.
The employee was visibly shocked and her client jumped out of her chair in surprise. Another employee just a few feet away also jumped at the noise. The salon said no one was hurt.
"Me when I pull the door handle and it shatters," the employee says in the video.
Spontaneous glass breakage can occur in tempered glass without an obvious cause, Mo News reported. Tempered glass is designed to break into small pieces rather than large, jagged shards, reducing the risk of serious injury.
All I know is I'm now rethinking that new sliding glass door shower we were planning to install in our home.
